Internship

The internship training activity is closely linked to the professional profiles expected after graduation, both in the public and private sectors.

The credits assigned to the internship are 6, corresponding to 150 hours of training activity, divided into direct internship (130 hours to be carried out at the host institution) and indirect internship (20 hours dedicated to the written re-elaboration of a report on the experience carried out).

The internship must be carried out at a company/organisation registered in the SOL St@ge system http://sol.unifi.it/stage/stud_jsp/login.jsp]

All information is available on the dedicated page: https://www.st-umaform.unifi.it/vp-104-informazioni-generali.html

For internship-related activities, Prof. Elena Gabbi acts as the academic internship supervisor and contact person.

Once the company has confirmed its availability to host the internship, the student must request authorization to complete the online internship project in the St@ge Online Services.

The student must send a single email from their institutional email account to three recipients: the university tutor, the company tutor, and the Internship Office of the School, providing:

  • name and surname, student ID number, Degree Programme
  • name of the host organisation (as registered in the St@ge database)

The request must specify the internship period and outline the training project. It must also state whether the student holds the Health and Safety Training Certificate, indicating the date of completion if issued by the University, or the date of recognition if issued by an external training provider and validated by the University Prevention and Safety Office.

For the subsequent steps, see: https://www.st-umaform.unifi.it/vp-332-iniziare-un-tirocinio.html

At the end of the internship, online questionnaires must be completed by the student, the company tutor, and the university tutor. Once all three questionnaires have been completed, the company tutor may prepare the final report.

The student is responsible for submitting the following documents, duly completed, to the Internship Office (stage@st-umaform.unifi.it) fifteen days before the exam session date:

Structure for the Internship Report (Max 10 pages)

The internship report must be divided into 3 parts:

  1. a first section describing the host institution and its educational purposes (this information may be obtained online or through documentation provided by the host organisation);
  2. a second section presenting and describing the specific objectives of the internship experience, with particular reference to educational or teaching methodologies applied and/or observed;
  3. a detailed analysis of a professional methodology, a case study, or an educational context.

The report must conclude with a final reflection on the experience, highlighting the learning outcomes achieved and/or any critical issues encountered.

A short bibliography and/or webography must also be included.

Internal training activities

The new University General Regulation on curricular and non-curricular internships provides for the introduction of “internal training activities”:

Art. 3 – Definitions

d) internal training activities: these are other activities carried out within Departments and Schools, which may also be preparatory to the final examination. These activities fall outside the internship category but may be recognised for the achievement of internship CFU credits

Students interested in carrying out internal activities for internship recognition must first contact the academic supervisor responsible for the activity and the internship coordinator of their Degree Programme.

Students must:

1) complete the application form and send it to the academic supervisor

2) send the completed form with all signatures to the internship coordinator of the Degree Programme for approval

3) send the form and the approval email from the internship coordinator to the Teaching Office before the start of the activity

4) at the end of the activity, contact the academic supervisor to complete the completion certificate.

Recognition of work/stage/civil service activities for internship credit

Requests for recognition of work experience, internships, or civil service activities for internship credit must be submitted using the form available at the following link: https://www.st-umaform.unifi.it/vp-191-modulistica.html, attaching the required documentation specified in the form.

Students must send all required documentation to the Teaching Office (clmagistrali@scform.unifi.it).
